Meeting convened at 6:05 pm. There were 28 in attendance.

Dennis Kirby led us in the Opening Prayer

John Ryan provided an overview of the agenda, and introduced our guest speaker, the mother of a clergy sexual abuse victim, who spoke on the effects upon the family of such an experience.

To say the least, it was a riveting presentation, followed by many, many questions. No one went home that evening with the same perspective on the issues facing the Catholic Church that they may have had prior to the meeting. Some tears flowed that evening.

There was another parent present who corroborated much of what our speaker told us. Most disturbing was the treatment these family members and their victim sons experienced at the hands of church officials.

Following this presentation, we reviewed our agenda, goals, and calendar for 2004 in the diocese of Peoria. We will be spending more time on this at our next meeting.

John and Dennis are scheduled to be interviewed by the Pantagraph for a feature presentation on Voice of the Faithful.
